The history of the London Black Cab TradePopular
Blogger: Guest
The first black taxi in London was the Hackney coach in the 17th Century. The name comes from hacquenée, the French term for a general-purpose horse. It literally means ", ambling grouch." In 1625 there were only 20 for rent, operating costs, the Inn meters. In 1636, the owner of four buses wage workers brought in the beach outside the maypole Inn, and the first taxi stand was released. He noted that a tariff for the various parts of London, and his driver wore clothes, so that they would be easily recognizable. "Hackney carriage" is still the official name for taxis.  Regulation of Trade
In 1636 Charles I have a proclamation to 50 Hackney Carriagesriages ply for hire in London. He stayed up to the city councils to ensure that those numbers are not exceeded. After the Civil War, in 1654 by Oliver Cromwell creation of the Fellowship of Master Hackney Carriages by the Act of Parliament, and taxi driving is a profession. 200 wage workers were now allowed. The law was adopted in 1662 under Charles II by a new law that the buses wage workers to be licensed and limited their number to 400th In 1688 the number rose to 600, and then again six years later by an Act of Parliament to 700th In 1711, 800 licenses were issued, and then further 200th In 1833 the trade was unregulated, and there was no longer a restriction on the amount of taxis. The only limitation was that the driver and vehicle "fit and proper", a condition that still applies today. This makes the licensed taxi trade of the oldest regulated public transport in the world, and it is for the people in the trade, so it requires. The rivalry between licensed and unlicensed vehicles rent was about as long as the taxi trade.
 The vehicles
When the driver began with mild convertibles, two vehicles from France, at the beginning of the 19th Century, they were known as "taxis". The name comes from the French for "jump like a goat," as they were very bright, and tend to bounce through the streets. Wilhelm Bruhn invented the taximeter, 1891, and it is from this that the term comes from the taxi. The taximeter measures the distance and time of all trips, the exact rate to be charged. The word comes from French taxe ( 'Price') and the Greek Metron ( "Action"). Previous inventions for the calculation of tariffs, the "Patent Index Mile" in 1847, and the Kilo Metric Register in 1858. This has been the reluctance by taxi drivers, because they do not want their income by machines. Even Bruhn ended thrown into the river by drivers, even though his invention is still in use today. In 1832, Edward Boulnois one two wheels, enclosed cabin for the carriage driver wage workers. Unfortunately, it was not very popular, as was the door on the back side. When the driver was sitting on the front, it was too easy for the passengers to jump without the fare. The early mechanical booths were by a variety of manufacturers, but brought her to Austin High Lot cab on the market, they gradually took over. They brought the low-loader, Flash Lot, the FX3, and then the FX4. The FX4 (also known as the Fairway), it is what many people think today, when the black taxis are called, and (along with the Mini) was one of the longest lived of car design. The TX1 followed the FX4, if needed wheelchair-accessible cabs. The only practical alternative is now the Metrocab, but the FX4 is still the most popular taxi in the street. There are a number of booths available to rent wines, but because they do not comply with modern requirements they will only be hired privately for special occasions. Drivers often flee meter run. A distinction must be consulted on the Asquith taxi. Duplication cab style on the original Austin High Lot, there are ten Asquiths licensed to ply for hire on the streets of London. However, most drivers use them for private events. They are no longer in production.
 Specifications
All black taxis, the 'Condtions of health'. That is, they must have a 25ft (7.6 m) turning circle, the cabin U-turn on a central square that the interior must be high enough that a bowler-hatted passengers can sit comfortably, and that access to If the soil, and not about 15in (38cm) from the floor. All booths must also wheelchair accessible. To ensure that the taxis to the conditions of health, and that they are safe for the public, they all have a test three times stricter than the MOT1 for private cars per year. For example, the tires on a private car need only legal at the time of the audit. A taxi will wear until the next test. If the tire does not last a year, they will not happen. Taxis are also on the inspectors do spot checks on the streets. If the car is not, it will not be able to apply for the rent again until they returned to the transfer station for a test. Taxis must not black. You can use different forms of advertising on the plates of the cars, namely: single door advertising, double-door advertising (the doors on each side must match), and the full body advertising, the coloring. Nothing is allowed on the boat because the number plate and the registration number should not be obscured. The driver
In the early days of the taxi, the driver hired vehicles from a holder who owned a fleet. Today, the opposite is the case. Most drivers own their own cars, and only a few fleets of significant size. Drivers will not stop if you hail them, regardless of whether the yellow 'taxi' sign is lit. This is because, legally, are not taxis plying for hire, if they move. However, if they stop it as "in the street" and can not refuse a fare under six miles2, or, in less than an hour. These rules are to prevent the now non-existent horse3 from too tired or thirsty. As a general rule, if the taxi driver to pay his belt, he is not for hire. As taxi drivers not to wear seat belts if they work, pay a driver is likely to drive. The tariffs are by the Parliament, and always been the case. They are time and distance, plus "extras". Extras additional passengers, luggage about 60cm long, and the rents in the evening, on weekends and holidays. For trips to the passenger outside the Metropolitan Police District, the price can be negotiated with the driver.
  Fascinating Facts

Taxis were prohibited ride through Hyde Park 1685. This was due to the unstable behavior of some women workers in a labor coach. The ban was in 1687, only to return in 1711 because of "multiple disorders". Time that the ban lasted until 1924. Taxi drivers are not legally obliged to change. If a note is the big driver is entitled to the cash, and offer after the changeover to the passenger at home. The 'knowledge of London "was 1851 by Sir Richard Mayne after complaints that taxi drivers do not know where they went.
